Alexandros Markeas

Alexandros Markeas studied piano, chamber music and composition at the National Conservatory of Greece and then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Alain Planès in piano and, in composition, with Guy Reibel, Michaël Levinas, Laurent Cuniot and Luis Naón. In 1997-1998, he attended the Ircam composition course.

He is interested in the languages of traditional music and favours encounters with improvising musicians from different cultures. He is also inspired by different fields of artistic expression, such as architecture, theatre and the visual arts (installations, video).
Alexandros Markeas currently teaches improvisation at the Conservatoire de Paris.
